Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho because of shock Jurgen Klopp issue

And that is because he thought Liverpool had become too predictable.

Apr.12 - SportLand: Liverpool reportedly sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona because Jurgen Klopp shockingly thought the Reds had become too predictable with the Brazilian in their ranks.

Barcelona broke the bank to raid Liverpool for Coutinho during the January transfer window, handing the Merseyside giants a huge £142million to get the deal done.

However, Liverpool are thriving without Coutinho as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firming continue to produce the goods for Klopp’s side.

The Barcelona star watched from the sidelines as his club’s Champions League dream was sensationally ended by Serie A giants Roma on Tuesday night.

That has led to Liverpool fans mocking Coutinho for jumping ship.

Yet the Liverpool Echo say Klopp had a specific reason for letting the 25-year-old depart.

And that is because he thought Liverpool had become too predictable.

At the turn of the year, the Reds’ season was in limbo.

They had battled their way out of their Champions League group - albeit by scoring goals aplenty - and fans were sweating on a top four place.

Since Coutinho’s sale, however, Liverpool have been nothing short of sensational.

The Reds are primed to secure a top four finish and could yet land their highest final league position since Klopp succeeded Brendan Rodgers in October 2015.
